Anna Nicole Smith’s mother says she thinks drugs killed her daughter.

The Playboy Playmate and tabloid darling died suddenly yesterday at the age of 39. An autopsy will be performed today in Broward County, Florida, where she died.

Smith’s mother, Vergie Arthur, told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she thinks her daughter, quote, “had too many drugs.” She says she tried to warn Anna Nicole about drugs and the people she hung around with but says “she didn’t listen” and “was too drugged up.”

Arthur compares her daughter’s death to that of her grandson. Smith’s son, Daniel, died suddenly last September at the age of 20. A medical examiner hired by the family blamed the death on a combination of methadone and anti-depressants.

Smith’s attorney says the one-time reality T.V. star had been ill for several days with a fever and was still depressed over her son’s death.
